Vice News: America's Infrastructure is Crumbling

The day after election day, I felt that the only possible silver lining that could come from the Trump election would be a massive infrastructure investment. It would’ve checked all of his boxes:

  • Build stuff with his name on it… you know there would be a Presidential plaque on every new piece of infrastructure he built

  • He doesn’t have to personally finance any of it

  • Legacy building

  • Taking credit for the good work of regular hardworking people

I shared the video above here because it’s remarkable that the initial steps to accomplish a Trump campaign promise were implemented with real intention to get something done. While there seemed to be some progress on an agreement for infrastructure spending in the Spring of 2019, that all faded as a result of Trump’s demands that he not be investigated. There was simply no other project that Trump could’ve gotten done more easily and with the least amount of friction than infrastructure. Clearly, that was shown in the way that Pelosi, Schumer, and Trump were able to come out of a talk with positive remarks on their progress, let alone breathe the same air.

In the video, Dan Slane talks about the work he did as apart of the Trump transition team to make a list of the 50 infrastructure projects ranked in order of priority. This list is clearly just as valid as when he compiled it three years ago. I’ll hold it aside here until we can talk about getting these projects done with somebody more capable.
